Yep, the wet season has arrived! While we were having a georgeous swim with friends at Lake Eacham yesterday, dark thunderclouds loomed overhead accompanied by loud claps of thunder and lightning. We beat a hasty retreat, imploring the kids to get out of the water as they could easily get struck in the lake. Being so warm the kids loved running around in the torrential rain, but I didn't like all the lightning about, so we decided to go home. Dropping the friends off, I felt like I couldn't stay and chat, as there was still a lot of lightning over our place... and the uneasy realisation that I did not unplug all electical appliances and shut the windows before I went out!! (essential things to do before leaving the house at this time of year) Luckily Mick was home from work just in the nick of time to save the laptop, camera etc, but not the phone or modem. A burny kind of smell came from the small box, and sure as eggs, it was buggered! Thank goodness my kiln wasn't running! There were puddles of water near all the windows in the house and the power was also off. So guess what I have been doing this morning! Spending hours on the phone with the lovely people at Telstra!!!!
