Night tiger!

Posted by admin on December 4, 2011

I had a bit of a fright this morning! I awoke at 3.30 this morning, and unable to sleep, I thought I would get up and load and start a high fire in the kiln. I am going down to Cairns tomorrow, and wanted to take down some little cups to Kickarts, as they had run out. I needed to start the firing asap as it wouldn't be cool enough before I head down. Anyway, back to the story, when I got up it was still dark at 4am, and as I approached the car, I saw a night tiger. The locals call these snakes night tigers as they are active at night, and they are brown and have stripes on their sides. Luckily, as I was quite sleepy-eyed still, I saw it before I trod on the poor thing. It was sprung like a spring, ready to stike, which helped me to wake up quite quickly! It didn't move a muscle, a human/snake standoff, but after a few clogs thrown at it, it moved away. I don't think they are poisonous, but they are ready biters, and I didn't feel like being attached to a snake at 4 in the morning!
