Driving home, I nearly run over an echidna.

At least the rain is easing a little today. Last night, as I driving home at dusk, I nearly ran over what looked like a rock with spikes in the road. I stopped to see that it was moving- it was an echidna. It wasn't in a hurry. You don't usually see echidnas in rainforest areas, but I suppose we are in a transition area. Around the other side of the Seven Sisters (our local cinder cones (small extinct volcanos)), the country has different trees- mainly eucalpts- and it seems to be a bit drier than here. Our neighbours actually have a resident echidna that makes itself at home in the house!!
