It is time to get back into the rhythm of things again

Posted by gabi on January 21, 2013

The holiday season is over. The rellies have gone home. The school holidays are coming to an end and I need to get back into the studio after a lovely break.

Today it has started to rain. Finally a decent amount of rain that sort of signifies the start of the wet season. This rainy weather makes one reflect over the previous year and I feel that I am pleased with my progress with the business side of things. The number of orders before Christmas had not decreased even though I did not contribute to the expensive brochure that I did last year. Locally, my sales were better than ever, with Fixed Abode selling so much of my functional ware that I could barely keep up! This year I need to focus on making my production more efficient so I can spend more time on my art. I am also considering going on Facebook. I don't know why I have put off taking this step!

I am also feel satisfied with my "A vulnerable parliament" piece that I exhibited at the Tablelands Regional Gallery, as well as having an image of "Lake Eacham" lightscape published in "500 prints on clay" later on this year.

I also had fun helping out Sarah Scragg with filming a video clip for a well known local group, the 'Hill-billy Goats'. I am also very happy with our solar power system being installed and functioning well, offsetting my electricity use. We planted out the studio driveway with rainforest trees (they will be enjoying this rain).

So, all in all, 2012 was a good year. Hopefully 2013 fares just as well.

Some exciting things to look forward to: my girls are due to calve in March, the '500prints on clay' is out in the bookstores, we are going hiking on Hinchinbrook Island late June....
